In another disturbing episode highlighting the rot and impunity within Nigeria’s power sector, Voice TV Nigeria presents a revealing discussion titled “How Enugu Disco Invades Community With 22 Hilux, Army, Police, NSCDC To Kidnap Transformer.”

The program features a critical policy analysis session with the Association of Public Policy Analysis (APPA), led by its President, Chief Princewill Okorie, who sheds light on the alarming abuse of power, systemic corruption, and exploitation perpetuated by electricity distribution companies across the country.

The conversation exposes an incident where officials of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) allegedly stormed a community with a convoy of security operatives—including the Nigerian Army, Police, and NSCDC—to forcibly remove a community transformer under questionable circumstances. The act, which residents described as “an official robbery,” reflects a growing pattern of intimidation, extortion, and disregard for public accountability by power sector operators.

Chief Princewill Okorie, during the analytical session, condemns the excessive use of force and the lack of due process in handling electricity infrastructure that directly affects citizens’ daily lives. He underscores how such actions deepen public distrust in PHCN/NEPA successor companies, describing them as institutions that have deviated from service delivery into profit-driven exploitation.
